Summertime, easy living, but hot! Be sure to schedule your HVAC service today! 665 533 Chinook

The lazy days of summer are fast approaching and so is the blistering heat of summer. This next part, write down, got a pen? Schedule your annual start up HVAC service now. No sense waiting, temps are already on the rise and you’ll be needing air conditioning before you know it.

Is there any part of the HVAC service I can do?

There are a few things that you should always be doing to help your unit last longer and run more efficiently like:

  1. Change out the filters, in fact, you should change out the filters monthly for optimum performance.
  2. Cleanup weeds and debris around your outside unit. Over the winter, we just don’t take the time to keep up with the yard as much. That outside unit needs unobstructed air flow to work best. Pull the weeds, spray off the unit and pick up any trash that may be in the area.
  3. Go inside and make certain no one has made a storage closet out of the area containing the air handler. If they have, evict them, the unit needs to have room to circulate that is unobstructed.
  4. Wipe down all your interior vents. This will keep the dust that may have collected on them from being moved back into the air and circulating back through the system.
  5. For those who are a little more advanced, (or who have had their HVAC service tech show them), pour some Clorox down the condensate drain line to help prevent blockages.

The main parts of your service however, the technical aspects are the parts that should be left to a licensed and certified HVAC technician like one of the guys from Chinook.

What HVAC service needs to be left to the techs?

HVAC service can be complicated, that’s why some parts are left to the pros, like Chinook. These guys are going to:

  1. Clean return air grill.
  2. Check the fan and make certain it is functioning properly.
  3. Check the Freon levels to insure proper cooling.
  4. Check all electrical for worn or exposed wires.
  5. Clean and calibrate thermostat
  6. Test air flow at registers.
  7. And more….

Remember, this HVAC service is what makes units last and helps to minimize downtime and inconvenience.
